Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Transportation and Traffic, the Program Manager of Traffic Safety and Operations will provide strong leadership and supervision, excellent project and program management, and expert guidance to staff by following the City’s core values of Care, Collaboration, Courage, and Service. This role serves as the Traffic Safety expert for the City. Under management direction, the Program Manager will oversee the Traffic and Safety Operations group, providing supervision and co-ordination of daily activities of the traffic analysts and technical traffic staff to address inquiries relating to transportation and traffic safety, operations and parking. The Program Manager will also lead Traffic Safety and Operations annual programs. Programs include but not limited to Pole Mounted and Temporary Radar Board Programs, Sidewalk Infill Program, School Crossing Guard Program and Community Safety Zone Program. This position will facilitate public education on traffic safety. The Program Manager is also responsible to lead, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of various Traffic Safety and Operations capital projects. This includes project initiation, planning, management and delivery of projects such as Traffic Safety and Operations Strategy and Implementation, Automated Speed Enforcement, Traffic Safety and Operations Assessments, Traffic Calming Projects and Human Factors Assessments. This position will also develop policies and standard operating procedures as it relates to traffic safety and operations and provide input to the annual budget and 10-year capital forecast.
